Hacking Tech - What is Phishing ? The basics !

Hacking Tech - What is Phishing ? The basics !
Phishing is an attempt to criminally and fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords and credit card details, by appearing as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. eBay, PayPal and other online banks are common targets. Phishing is typically carried out by email or instant messaging and often directs users to enter details at a website, although phone contact has also been used.

Phishing is an example of social engineering techniques used to fool users. Attempts to deal with the growing number of reported phishing incidents include legislation, user training, public awareness, and technical measures.

Recent phishing attempts have targeted the customers of banks and online payment services. Social networking sites such as Orkut are also a target of phishing.

Spoofed/Fraudulent e-mails are the most widely used tools to carry out the phishing attack. In most cases we get a fake e-mail that appears to have come from a Trusted Website . Here the hacker may request us to verify username & password by replaying to a given email address.

Techniques Behind A Phishing Attack -

1. Link Manipulation

Most methods of phishing use some form of technical deception designed to make a link in an email appear to belong to some trusted organization or spoofed organization. Misspelled URLs or the use of subdomains are common tricks used by phishers, such as this example URL

www.micosoft.com

www.mircosoft.com

www.verify-microsoft.com

instead of www.microsoft.com

2. Filter Evasion

Phishers have used images instead of text to make it harder for anti-phishing filters to detect text commonly used in phishing emails. This is the reason Gmail or Yahoo will disable the images by default for incoming mails.

How does a phishing attack/scam look like ?

As scam artists become more sophisticated, so do their phishing e-mail messages and pop-up windows. They often include official-looking logos from real organizations and other identifying information taken directly from legitimate Web sites. Here is an example of how the phishing scam email looks like.

Example of a phishing e-mail message, including a deceptive URL address linking to a scam Web site.

To make these phishing e-mail messages look even more legitimate, the scam artists may place a link in them that appears to go to the legitimate Web site (1), but it actually takes you to a phishing site (2) or possibly a pop-up window that looks exactly like the official site.

These copycat sites are also called "spoofed” Web sites. Once you’re at one of these spoofed sites, you may send personal information to the hackers.

How To Identify A Fraudulent E-mail?

Here are a few phrases to look for if you think an e-mail message is a phishing scam.

"Verify your account.”

Legitimate sites will never ask you to send passwords, login names, Social Security numbers, or any other personal information through e-mail.

"If you don’t respond within 48 hours, your account will be closed.”

These messages convey a sense of urgency so that you’ll respond immediately without thinking.

"Dear Valued Customer.”

Phishing e-mail messages are usually sent out in bulk andoften do not contain your first or last name.

"Click the link below to gain access to your account.”

HTML-formatted messages can contain links or forms that you can fill out just as you’d fill out a form on a Web site. The links that you are urged to click may contain all or part of a real company’s name and are usually "masked,” meaning that the link you see does not take you to that address but somewhere different, usually a scam Web site.

Countermeasures to prevent Phishing Attack are -

1. Never assume that an email is valid based on the sender’s email address.

2. A trusted bank/organization such as paypal will never ask you for your full name and password in a PayPal email.

3. An email from trusted organization will never contain attachments or software.

4. Clicking on a link in an email is the most insecure way to get to your account access you account by typing the URL of the site in address bar only.

Friend ship sms

Don’t try to find someone who can solve all your problems,
but instead find someone who won’t let you face them alone.

A true friend is someone
who can find the real fact
about your pain and can
see your hidden feelings
even if you are trying
to fool everyone else
that you are fine.

Hurting a friend is as easy as cutting a tree ....
But making a friend Happy and Smiling all the time is like growing a tree ....
It really takes a lot of time, so please do not destroy it within seconds

I like three friends in my life,
First one is Sun, the second is Moon
and the best of all is YOU!!
Sun for the day time, and
moon for the night time,
but YOU for the life time ….

Friends are much like fishes! ...
you have to sit patiently for a long time
to catch a good one.
.
exactly just like I caught you !!
.
So you better stay nice with me
otherwise …. I will FRY you to the bone

Some people are Worth to be thrown
Some are Good to Keep
Some are to be Treasured forever,
And ...
I Think you are the one to be Thrown
In The Treasure Box to be Kept Forever

I think my mobile is in love with you.
Because it whistles when your message comes ...
its face become bright ...
the light starts glowing ...
and buttons start flashing
So please keep texting ..

Never cry over someone who would not cry over you.
Never try to keep someone who does not want to keep you,
It’s only going to HURT you even MORE in the long run.

Buying gifts show how much someone remembers you.
Giving a red rose show how much someone love you!.
Phone calls show how much a friend like you.
Jealousy can really show how much someone
really cares about things you do!!.

Sometimes, you just can’t tell people how you really feel.
Not because you don’t know why,
not because you don’t trust them,
not because you don’t know your purpose,
but because you just can’t find the right words
to make them understand.

Don’t count the things you think you have done for someone.
Instead, count the number of times you felt better just because
you made them happy.

If someone point out your mistake, do not be angry,
but be happy that there is someone
who is interested in what you have done.
Never mind but rather appreciate him
for your care & watching ...
oh and remember your gentle smile.

When your friend lies to you, it is not his fault! !
Actually it is yours ...
because you did not gave him the proper space
to tell you the truth.
_Shakespeare

Do not be surprised if you find people
who ignore the ones who adore them, adore the ones who ignore them!!
Love the ones hurt them and hurt who love them!.
Sounds ironic and unbelievable!

Sometimes you meet someone and
before you know who are they, or
where they are from or even without knowing their name,
you get a feeling that sometime in the future
this person is going to mean something to you!!!

Always leave a room for forgiveness ...
who knows you may want to return again some day.
Never end the conversations with bad terms ...
you never know, you might need them in the future.
Always end the meeting with some good memories,
Because God knows it might be the last ...

Knowing a friend like you has made me happy in a million ways
and If I ever do something to make you turn away from me
I would find a million reasons to make you stay!!!

Piss me off i’ll get even,
put me down i’ll recover twice as quick,
tell me i can’t do something i’ll do it even better,
think you know me you better think twice cause you don’t.

Boys vs Girls

Boys get mad easily, but usually do not show it.
Girls get sad easily and can cry like crazy! ...

Boys care about the quantity of love!.
Girls care about the quality of love ...

Boys can forget, but can not forgive.
Girls can forgive, but can not forget! ...
.
Boys can never reject a girl’s add friend request
But girls often reject it just to feel powerful!!
.
Boys prefer the phrase "Boys vs Girls"
Girls INSIST on saying "Girls vs Boys" !

Usually boys believe in what they see and
girls believe in what they hear,
that is why ....
boys lie and girls wear make up

A simple Hi can make some 1 feel worthwhile,
A little silence can change things all over,
A simple NO! can hurt so much,
A small mistake can haunt you 4 the rest of your life,
A single memory can make u cry like crazy,
A word YES can change some1’s entire life,
A phrase I love you can make u feel u own the world,
And a text sms sent with so much love and care make some1’s Day!
So keep texting ! .

Sometimes you meet someone and
before you know who are they, or
where they are from or even without knowing their name,
you get a feeling that sometime in the future
this person is going to mean something to you!!

My heart beats so fast it won’t calm down
I feel like I cannot breath
I get nervous and I feel like I am on air
I do not know what is going on! anymore!

I really hate it, this has never happened to me before!
I hate this, what did you do to me!
I really hate you !!!

The answer came back really quickly saying
Yeah, I already know that.
I Hate You TOO

Piss me off i’ll get even,
put me down i’ll recover twice as quick,
tell me i can’t do something i’ll do it even better,
think you know me you better think twice cause you don’t.

U r a part of a puzzle of someone else’s life.
U may never know where u fit but remember that
someone else’s life may never be complete without U in it,
So enjoy being special!!!

A question from a girl;
Hey guys what makes you different than anyone else?
Prove to me you are unique!
because the only difference i see in guys,
is they all got different names..
Really!!

The most special kiss is a first kiss!
Make her smile &
creates blossom pink on her cheek
always use sweet words.
This is a very unique moment;
that is why, you should not do any mistakes.
No doubt your kiss will remain forever!!!

ANDROID OS

Features
The Android Emulator default home screen (v1.5)
Architecture diagram
Current features and specifications:[62][63][64]
Handset layouts
The platform is adaptable to larger, VGA, 2D graphics library, 3D graphics library based on OpenGL ES 2.0 specifications, and traditional smartphone layouts.
Storage
SQLite, a lightweight relational database, is used for data storage purposes
Connectivity
Android supports connectivity technologies including GSM/EDGE, IDEN, CDMA, EV-DO, UMTS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (no connections through Proxy server[65] and no Ad hoc wireless network),[66] LTE, NFC and WiMAX.
Messaging
SMS and MMS are available forms of messaging, including threaded text messaging and now Android Cloud To Device Messaging Framework(C2DM) is also a part of Android Push Messaging service.
Multiple language support
Android supports multiple human languages. The number of languages more than doubled for the platform 2.3 Gingerbread. Android lacks font rendering of several languages even after official announcements[citation needed] of added support (e.g. Hindi).
Web browser
The web browser available in Android is based on the open-source WebKit layout engine, coupled with Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine. The browser scores a 93/100 on the Acid3 Test.
Java support
While most Android applications are written in Java, there is no Java Virtual Machine in the platform and Java byte code is not executed. Java classes are compiled into Dalvik executables and run on Dalvik, a specialized virtual machine designed specifically for Android and optimized for battery-powered mobile devices with limited memory and CPU. J2ME support can be provided via third-party applications.
Media support
Android supports the following audio/video/still media formats: WebM, H.263, H.264 (in 3GP or MP4 container), MPEG-4 SP, AMR, AMR-WB (in 3GP container), AAC, HE-AAC (in MP4 or 3GP container), MP3, MIDI, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, WAV, JPEG, PNG, GIF (though earlier versions do not support animated GIFs),[67] BMP.[64]
Streaming media support
RTP/RTSP streaming (3GPP PSS, ISMA), HTML progressive download (HTML5 <video> tag). Adobe Flash Streaming (RTMP) and HTTP Dynamic Streaming are supported by the Flash plugin.[68] Apple HTTP Live Streaming is supported by RealPlayer for Mobile,[69] and by the operating system in Android 3.0 (Honeycomb).[55]
Additional hardware support
Android can use video/still cameras, touchscreens, GPS, accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, dedicated gaming controls, proximity and pressure sensors, thermometers, accelerated 2D bit blits (with hardware orientation, scaling, pixel format conversion) and accelerated 3D graphics.
Multi-touch
Android has native support for multi-touch which was initially made available in handsets such as the HTC Hero. The feature was originally disabled at the kernel level (possibly to avoid infringing Apple's patents on touch-screen technology at the time).[70] Google has since released an update for the Nexus One and the Motorola Droid which enables multi-touch natively.[71]
Bluetooth
Supports A2DP, AVRCP, sending files (OPP), accessing the phone book (PBAP), voice dialing and sending contacts between phones. Keyboard, mouse and joystick (HID) support is available through manufacturer customizations and third-party applications. Full HID support is planned for Android 3.0 (Honeycomb).[55]
Video calling
Android does not support native video calling, but some handsets have a customized version of the operating system that supports it, either via the UMTS network (like the Samsung Galaxy S) or over IP. Video calling through Google Talk is available in Android 2.3.4 and later. Gingerbread allows Nexus S to place Internet calls with a SIP account. This allows for enhanced VoIP dialing to other SIP accounts and even phone numbers. Skype 2.1 offers video calling in Android 2.3, including front camera support.
Multitasking
Multitasking of applications is available.[72]
Voice based features
Google search through voice has been available since initial release.[73] Voice actions for calling, texting, navigation, etc. are supported on Android 2.2 onwards.[74]
Tethering
Android supports tethering, which allows a phone to be used as a wireless/wired Wi-Fi hotspot. Before Android 2.2 this was supported by third-party applications or manufacturer customizations.[75]
Screen capture
Android does not support screenshot capture as of 2011. This is supported by manufacturer and third-party customizations. Screen Capture is available through a PC connection using the DDMS developer's tool.[76]

Hardware

The Android operating system is used on smartphones, netbooks, tablet computers, Google TV, and other devices.[77][78]
The main hardware platform for Android is the ARM architecture. There is support for x86 from the Android-x86 project,[79] and Google TV uses a special x86 version of Android.
The first commercially available phone to run Android was the HTC Dream, released on 22 October 2008.[80] In early 2010 Google collaborated with HTC to launch its flagship[81] Android device, the Nexus One. This was followed later in 2010 with the Samsung-made Nexus S.
iOS and Android 2.3.3 'Gingerbread' may be set up to dual boot on a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch with the help of OpeniBoot and iDroid.[82][83]

Applications

Applications are usually developed in the Java language using the Android Software Development Kit, but other development tools are available, including a Native Development Kit for applications or extensions in C or C++, and Google App Inventor, a visual environment for novice programmers

Security

In August 2010, an SMS Trojan called Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a infected a number of mobile devices, according to security firm Kaspersky Lab. Disguised as a harmless media player application, the trojan, once installed sends out SMS text messages without the user's knowledge or consent. According to Denis Maslennikov, Senior Malware Researcher at Kaspersky Lab, an exact number of devices infected is not available at present, but the outbreak is currently regional. For now, only Russian Android users can actually lose money after installing the Trojan, but anyone can be infected.[91] Android users were advised not to use the Android web browser until Google issues a security patch. The Android Security Team responded and developed a fix on February 5 2011 and patched Open Source Android two days later.
In March 2011, Google pulled 58 malicious apps from the Android Market, but not before the 58 apps were downloaded to around 260,000 devices.[92] These apps were malicious applications in the Android Market which contained trojans hidden in pirated versions of legitimate apps.[93] The malware (called DroidDream) exploited a bug which was present in versions of Android older than 2.2.2.[94] Android device manufacturers and carriers work in tandem to distribute Android based updates and had not uniformly issued patches to their customers for the DroidDream exploit, leaving users vulnerable.[95] Google said the exploit allowed the apps to gather device specific information, as well as personal information. The exploit also allowed the apps to download additional code that could be run on the device.[96] Within days, Google remotely wiped the apps from infected users and rolled out an update that would negate the exploits that allowed the apps to view information. They also announced that they would be resolving the issue to ensure that events like this did not occur again.[97] Security firms such as AVG Technologies and Symantec have released "antivirus" software for Android devices.
In August 2011, Security firm Lookout estimated that between half a million to one million Android users have been affected by malicious software in the first half of 2011. Lookout also reported that there was an increase of applications infected with malware, from 80 to 400 in the first six months of 2011.[98]

Linux compatibility

Android's kernel is derived from the Linux kernel. Google contributed code to the Linux kernel as part of their Android effort, but certain features, notably a power management feature called wakelocks, were rejected by mainline kernel developers, so the Android kernel is now a separate version or fork of the Linux kernel.[115][116][117]
Google announced in April 2010 that they would hire two employees to work with the Linux kernel community.[118] Greg Kroah-Hartman, the current Linux kernel maintainer for the -stable branch, said in December 2010 that he was concerned that Google was no longer trying to get their code changes included in mainstream Linux.[116] Some Google Android developers hinted that "the Android team was getting fed up with the process", because they were a small team and had more urgent work to do on Android.[119]
Android does not have a native X Window System nor does it support the full set of standard GNU libraries, and this makes it difficult to port existing GNU/Linux applications or libraries to Android.[120] However, support for the X Window System is possible.[121
